The North Face
The North Face brand was established in San Francisco, California in 1968 where Douglas Tompkins and Kenneth "Hap" Kloop opened a retail outlet. They choose this name because the northern side of a mountain in the northern hemisphere is generally the steepest, coldest and hardest to climb.
The North Face has a very recognizable logo that comprises a slanted quarter circle intersected by two lines. This image is apparently an interpretation of the famous Half Dome rock formation in Yosemite National Park.
The brand specializes in technical high-end quality footware.
